My Diva

Maggie lounging in her silk pajamas (thank you Nyusya) and matching slippers with (fake) fur, reading one of Mommy's books in the rocking chair, post relaxing apple cider vinegar with organic bubble bath bath. "Tis the life of a three year old diva. Mwahh!

Other notes:
  • We had a pretty successful family home evening tonight. Successful in that nobody screamed at anybody else, everyone sang the songs, and the two eldest children stayed put pretty much in one place while the lesson was being taught (it was interactive). Someone told me a story (cant remember who it was??) about their FHE's and how they were just out of control. They were complaining to one of the General Primary Presidency if I remember correctly. The Primary leader asked how long the family FHE's were and the mother responded that they were about 30 minutes. The Primary leader then responded that they were about 25 minutes too long! So when my very young children's attention spans seem very very short and they have all eyes, ears, noses and everythings else's on the activity, its time to call it quits with the lesson. The main thing is making it something that the kids look foward to each week, not something that seems like a chore. Tonight out activity was making chocolate chip cookies! Our family favorites! I usually put something healthy, like garbanzo beans, in the cookies, but tonight it was all tollhouse. Super yummy! Maggie wanted to help make the cookies and she did quite the awesome job of measuring the ingredients out for me! It is so nice to have my little girl want and be able to do a lot of fun things with me. She even wanted to do the laundry today. She said, "Now Mommy, dont pick those clothes up!" I need to cherish these moments. I am sure that it wont be too long in the future that I wont be able to bribe her to do the laundry with me!
  • We had to put in an underground electric fence for our dog, Bella this weekend. At the ripe age of 8 years, she learned to scale the fence in our backyard. It's not a very graceful leap. I'm surprised she hasnt hurt herself. We tried to train her but she was stubborn and would just lay down or roll over. Needless to say, she got shocked several times this weekend and then was afraid to go outside. However, somehow she scaled the fence and got out today. Bob is so mad about it. I know she really needs more training and I am hoping tomorrow is nice and we can spend more time outside with her. She just turned 9 and I am wondering how much longer she will be able to scale the fence anyway.
  • Andrew got a plate full of cheerios for the first time today! He had an absolute ball! He would try to get them in his mouth and then a few would be dropped along the side of the high chair. When he found out that he could eat them and that they were pretty good, he got really excited! He did a great job of gumming them. The kids said"he must have teeth because he's chewing them!" They think this idea of the baby getting teeth is really something! Andrew is 8 months now and still has no teeth. Not unusual for my family. I mean I was 12 months before I got any! I dont think Andrew is going to wait until he is a year to get teeth, but I am certainly not worried about him not having any now. He is getting so big and is loving being able to sit up and play. He loves to play "copycat". He will close his eyes when you close your eyes, and he loves to play pattycake and "claps" his hands alot! The kids love this. They have a ball with him. I love to hear his little giggles when the Maggie and Alexander are playing with him.
